In a report published today, the EU confirms for yet another year its position as largest global exporter of agri-food products, with EU exports reaching €138 billion in 2018.

Young farmers are the focus of support policies of the Common Agricultural Policy, they will continue to be the focus in the next programming period. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Desislava Taneva at the opening of the second National Forum of Young Farmers at the Agricultural University - Plovdiv, organised by the MEP from the European People's Party Vladimir Urutchev.

The third edition of the Digital Day will enable the EU and interested Member States to pool resources to accelerate digital developments in key areas that can bring tangible benefits to our economies and our societies. This event is an invitation-only event.

Agriculture is impacted by global trends related to demographics, economics and climate change. New emerging technologies are becoming available that can boost effectiveness and reduce risks. Consequently, a “farm-tech revolution” is emerging within the scope of global trends which generate structural changes in farms and the wider value chain in unexplored ways, comparable to what happened in the 1950s when tractors started to be used more widely, and pesticides were introduced.

The European Commission has today launched the calls for proposals for programmes to promote European agricultural products throughout the world and within the EU.

A total of €191.6 million was allocated to promotion programmes in 2019, including €181.6 million for the co-financing of the programmes and another €10 million in case of market disturbance, up from €179 million in 2018. Programmes can cover a wide range of issues from general campaigns on healthy eating to specific market sectors.
